Salvation, what is it?

Basically, salvation is the saving of a life from death or harms way.  God’s word (The Holy Bible) goes further to include in salvation the deliverance from the penalty and the power of sin.

The Bible tells us again and again that salvation is a free gift from God received through faith.

By confessing that you have sinned and by turning from your sin and absolutely desiring to know Jesus personally and being willing to follow Him no matter what the cost.

Why do you need to be saved?

The Bible says in Romans 3:23  that all have sinned; and fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

Because we have all done things in our lives that we should not have done.  We need forgiveness of our sins by our Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus states in John 3:3 “I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the kingdom of God

Because we need an absolute and total relationship with God, and we can only have this kind of relationship with Him by being spiritually reborn in Jesus Christ.

Jesus states in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Because there is a Heaven and there is a hell, and we can only enter the kingdom of Heaven through the power of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus states in John 11:25-26 “I am the resurrection and the life.  Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again.  They are given eternal life for believing in me and will never parish.”

Our earthly bodies will die someday, and only our Lord Jesus Christ can give our spirits eternal life.

How are people saved?

The Bible says in Romans 10:13 for “anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

We must pray to Jesus and ask forgiveness of our sins.  We must admit that we have sinned.  We must repent of our sins and desire to serve God instead of our own sinful desires.  Jesus states in  Luke 13:3 “and you will also perish unless you turn from your evil ways and turn to God.”

The Bible says in Romans 10:9 “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

You must believe in Jesus Christ, with all of your heart believe He was born of a virgin, and that He died for the sins of the world, that He rose from the dead on the third day and that He will return for his people.

Pray this prayer

Oh Lord, I know I’m a sinner.  I believe you were born of a virgin and that you died on the cross for my sins, that you were raised from the dead on the third day after you gave your life for my sins.  Lord I invite you into my heart and into my life, to take control of me and let me live completely for you in all the things I do and say.  Father please forgive me for my sins, I receive you as my savior right now and if I were to die today I know I would be with you.

Amen

BE BAPTIZED

Acts 2:38 says: Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

SHARE JESUS

Psalms 107:2 says: Has the Lord redeemed you?  Then speak out!  Tell others He has saved you from your enemies.

KNOW GOD

Commit yourself to prayer.  Colossians 4:2 says: Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Find a church home.  Hebrews 10:24-25 says: Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds.  And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of His coming back again is drawing near.

Study the Bible.  2 Timothy 2:15 says: Work hard so God can approve you.  Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.

SURROUND YOURSELVES WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS

1 Corinthians 15:33 says: bad company corrupts good character.

Choose new friends who are Christians.
